I’m part of River City Harvest, a community garden group in Great Falls, and I’m excited to announce that we are finalists in the DeLoach Vineyard Community Garden award! If we win one of the $4K awards we plan to build more elevated beds to provide gardening opportunities for those with physical limitations. Whether the gardener is in a wheelchair or has bad knees, we want to give folks the means to grow their own food. We also want to create a screened in gazebo so the residents at our Park Place Health Care Center garden can come out to enjoy the garden. So many of them are confined to a wheelchair, and cannot spend much time outside because of the mosquito situation, so this way they can be out by the plants and the people that they love to watch. The greenhouse, where our volunteers grow a lot of fresh food for Meals On Wheels months before we can think about growing anything, is in need of some help to keep it from overheating in the summer. It’s such a valuable part of what we do, and we need to put some money towards that project. There’s always plenty to do and we certainly appreciate your vote! Thanks a bunch!

Amy,
Good luck with the contest. That was a good video. I voted for your garden. I’m vote #405. A suggestion: on your blog make the link to the vote obvious. Something like ‘Click here to vote’.
Clif
Thanks, Clif! You had a good idea so I actually made a separate page where people can vote every time they check my site. How’s your spring going so far?
Amy
My Spring is going slow. Most of the little snow we had gotten this Winter is gone. Today I prepared my harrow so I can drag it around my pastures later this week to knock down the pocket gopher mounds.
I’ve had the pocket gophers on the run the past two years so I am curious how many will show up this year.
You’ll have to keep me posted on your pocket gopher numbers. It’ll be interesting. I don’t this year was as severe as last with the rodent numbers overall. Is it still pretty muddy over there?
